Dear Friends,

my book Panjab: Journeys Through Fault Lines is now out in bookstores. Those of you who have pre-ordered copies will start getting them now. Thank you!

I feel humbled that two people who I have admired and respected over years had this to say about the book which is part-reportage, part-memoir and part-contextual history of Panjab.

From the back cover:

More than just a history of the Panjab, this accessible and layered account is also a journey of self-discovery, a return to the author’s roots which questions, simultaneously, the politics and geography of rootedness, a homecoming that questions the idea of home. It’s a book filled with love, despair, disappointment and hope.
~ Urvashi Butalia, Author and Publisher, Zubaan

Panjab post-militancy is in crisis. Amandeep Sandhu has spent time travelling through the state, observing and talking to people. He interweaves this reportage with the understanding he possesses both as an insider and outsider to Panjab. The result is a clear-headed insight into the reasons for its decline. There is nothing I have read that better explains the interconnected decay of the institutions of the state and the Sikh religion.
~ Hartosh Singh Bal, Political Editor, Caravan

Indian readers can pre-order copies here: Amazon.in

Readers abroad can buy copies here: Amazon.com

Please Bless! Buy and discuss. The intent of the book is present Panjab as post conflict zone and open conversations so we can all begin to heal.

Hindu Lit for Life: Panjab, the Unknown Narrative

   Posted by: aman    in Punjab

Dear Friends,

As my upcoming book Panjab: Journeys Through Fault Lines approaches release date October 30, 2019, I present to you a recording of a session at the Hindu Lit for Life, 2017.

In 2017, on the eve of Panjab assembly elections, Prasanna Ramaswamy invited me to the Hindu Lit for Life to speak about my journeys in Panjab. I was touched by Prasanna’s faith in me.

The brilliant Prema Revathi and I had a conversation on stage where she asked me questions and linked the concerns I was raising about Panjab with faraway Tamil Nadu. If I myself may say so, it was one of the best public conversations I have had and the credit for it goes to Revathi.

I hope you listen to it…

Panjab Today publishes my note on the Cyber Satyagrah

   Posted by: aman    in Other

October 2, 2019 was the 58th day of the Kashmir lock-down and the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Some of us who are questioning the government – which on the one hand claims Kashmir is ‘normal’ and on the other hand keeps Kashmir’s people deprived of food, medicines, essentials, access to modes of communication – decided to undertake a 12 hour Cyber Satyagrah. It was to experience a lock-down and write the experience.

A few days back, in Canada, famous Panjabi singer spoke about the need for a single language in the country. I commented on his statement on my social media. The Tribune found it fit to quote.
